This special performance features the work of Welsh Composer Stephen Goss and the world premiere of Still Life, a new piece for cello and guitar composed for the Patterson/Sutton Duo.

Still Life is a celebration of the life and work of Clyfford Still in seven movements that explore Still’s passion for jazz, Beethoven, and William Blake. Goss will introduce the program.

Praised for their “wit and imagination” and “exquisite grace,” the trailblazing cello and guitar duo of Dr. Kimberly Patterson and Dr. Patrick Sutton is known for its passionate performances and engaging stage presence as they bring their rich cello and guitar repertoire to audiences around the world.

Composer Stephen Goss’s music receives hundreds of performances worldwide each year and has been recorded over 70 times by more than a dozen record labels including Decca, Deutsche Grammophon, EMI, Naxos, and Virgin Classics. He is particularly well-known for his concertos and guitar music and has collaborated with John Williams, Andrew Lloyd-Webber, and Mikhail Pletnev.
