Don’t miss our hour-long Family Tours, art adventures designed for children ages 5-10 and their adult companions. Full of games, art making, and close looking in the galleries, Family Tours are led by our professional team of gallery teachers. Family Tours are free for everyone, and advance registration is required. Sign up here and experience what one mom called “a perfect combination of art observation and hands-on activities.” Every child takes home a keepsake!
Enjoy a family-friendly celebration in the Museum’s forecourt and galleries. Family Days are free, and registration is not required. Festivities include face painting, games, story time, and family tours. Summer Family Day takes place on Saturday, July 8.
Family Sketchbook and Detail Detective
Available at reception. Try some creative activities together that help you look more closely and spark your imagination about what you see. Pick up a Family Sketchbook, a series of seven fun prompts that can be done with any artwork in the museum, or try out our Detail Detective: sharpen your eyes and see how many details you can find—after you have found them all, head back to reception to claim a prize.
Boettcher Foundation Education Gallery
Upstairs, adjacent to our magnificent galleries, check out some of our favorite book for children and adults. Watch short videos about the art and life of Clyfford Still, as well as his Abstract Expressionist contemporaries.
