The Clyfford Still Museum is dedicated to the life and artwork of Clyfford Still, whose artwork is owned by the public and resides here in Denver. As such, the Museum is deeply committed to the community of families, students, artists and art lovers that surround us.

Principal Responsibilities
Reporting to the Earned Revenue Manager, the Venue Sales Associate is an ambassador for the Clyfford Still Museum, representing our unique offerings to visitors and prospective clients. This position focuses on booking private events and oversees the execution of those events to ensure adherence to all Museum policies. This position leads the full sales cycle from marketing, initial inquiries, onsite walkthroughs, and contracting to the successful completion of events. This position takes an active role in developing and implementing sales strategies and promotional efforts. This position focuses on enhancing revenue through private events while representing the Museum’s values and mission.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Leads sales cycle for private event rentals and non-marketing photography requests, including lead cultivation, fielding inquiries, facilitating walkthroughs, and managing bookings to reach the Museum’s set revenue goals.
  • Coordinates private events, managing host and vendor relationships to uphold Museum policies and deliver exceptional service.
  • Ensures all policies and procedures are adhered to by vendors and clients.
  • Moves sales leads through each stage of the sales process until the successful completion of the event.
  • Coordinates client meetings, site visits, walk-throughs, and event execution.
  • Responds to phone and email inquiries daily.
  • Maintains private event records in the Museum’s master calendar, database, and internal communication channels.
  • Creates proposals, contracts, and detailed floorplans for clients.
  • Oversees contract negotiation, invoicing, and payment processing.
  • Cultivates and manages relationships with vendors, recommending preferred status.
  • Oversees the operations and logistics during the entirety of events, including deliveries, set-up and breakdown.
  • Represents the Museum at industry events and networking opportunities.

Minimum Education, Job Qualifications and Experience

Knowledge:

  • Experience in event and venue sales in a nonprofit or corporate setting
  • Proven track record of meeting sales targets, managing budgets and schedules
  • Experience collaborating with colleagues in graphic design, sales, marketing, security, and facilities

Skill:

  • Excellent organizational, communication, negotiating, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a customer-service mindset
  • Strong organizational and time management, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Skills in the use of computer equipment with a working knowledge of Google Suite

Ability:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, vendors, clients, and stakeholders
  • Handle sensitive or stressful situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Make informal and formal presentations
  • Able to make quick adjustments and judgments
  • Work flexible hours, weekends and evenings required

Experience:

  • At least two years of experience in event and venue sales
  • Established relationships with potential clients preferred
  • Experience in contract negotiation

Working Conditions:

  • Work may require the ability to lift 20 pounds with or without assistance
  • Standing and walking
  • May require some bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing
  • Hand/eye coordination for the operation of computer systems
  • Vision to read reports and other written material
  • Flexible work schedule that includes some evenings and weekends
  • Frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and visitors
  • Works indoors at the Clyfford Still Museum but may work outdoors assisting with events in varying weather conditions
  • Some work-from-home may be permitted
  • Works in a clean, comfortable environment with some noise and distractions
