On-Call Bilingual Educator

About this Role

The Clyfford Still Museum is dedicated to preserving and sharing the life and work of Clyfford Still, a key figure in 20th-century art. The On-call Educator co-facilitates inclusive, engaging learning experiences for PK–12 students, infants, families, and teachers both onsite and in the community in both English and Spanish. This role teaches in the galleries, in classrooms, and online. The On-call Bilingual Educator adapts lessons to diverse learners, and contributes to lesson development, professional learning, and supportive partnerships with schools and educators. Through thoughtful facilitation and collaboration, the On-call Bilingual Educator supports children and adults in connecting with the Museum’s mission and feeling a sense of belonging in its spaces.

Key Responsibilities

Facilitate educational programs for students, families, and teachers in both English and Spanish.

  • Co-teach inStill Gallery Experiences for Schools, both onsite and in classrooms or virtual settings for grades PK–12
  • Co-teach Art Crawl infant experiences
  • Co-teach Maker Morning family programs
  • Facilitate teacher professional development sessions and school-based events
  • Support community-based and Museum-wide public programs as needed
  • Adapt facilitation in real time to respond to children’s interests, needs, and backgrounds

Demonstrate inclusive, responsive, and child-centered teaching practices.

  • Use inquiry-based, child-led strategies to engage diverse learners
  • Build a welcoming and culturally respectful environment for students and families
  • Incorporate flexibility, curiosity, and joy into program delivery
  • Actively participate in self-reflection and collaborative debrief conversations to improve teaching

Engage in onboarding and ongoing professional development.

  • Attend initial professional development sessions to learn the Museum’s lessons, content, and teaching strategies
  • Participate in monthly professional development sessions to strengthen skills related to art, learning, facilitation, equity, and accessibility

Create a welcoming and respectful environment for children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Use creative and child-centered strategies to support engagement and comfort in Museum learning spaces
  • Show openness to feedback and a willingness to adapt instructional approaches

Demonstrate inclusive, flexible, and responsive facilitation practices to adapt to the real-time needs of diverse learners in Museum and classroom settings.

  • Approach all teaching with empathy, curiosity, and cultural responsiveness
  • Center student and family voices through child-led, inquiry-based learning
  • Model collaboration, flexibility, and openness to feedback

Facilitate and co-teach bilingual museum programs for students, families, and educators.

  • Facilitate inStill Gallery Experiences, Art Crawl infant tours, and family programs in both English and Spanish

Collaborate on program planning and instructional strategies.

  • Plan with other bilingual educators to refine facilitation techniques and develop new offerings

Review and provide feedback on Spanish-translated texts for educational use.

  • Help ensure cultural and linguistic accessibility in program content
  • Ensure accuracy and accessibility of Spanish-language lesson plans, guides, and program materials

Participate in high-impact HR efforts and contribute to team culture 

  • Consistently behave in line with organizational values, norms, and behavior expectations
  • Contribute to building and sustaining team engagement, morale, and a high-performing culture

About You / The Ideal Candidate

Overview

The ideal candidate is a warm, curious, and adaptable bilingual educator who creates inclusive, engaging learning experiences in both English and Spanish. They excel at using inquiry-based, child-led facilitation to connect with learners of all ages and backgrounds, fostering culturally respectful and welcoming spaces. Skilled at real-time adaptation, they bring empathy, flexibility, and a growth mindset to their work, collaborating effectively with colleagues to ensure linguistic and cultural accessibility. Above all, they believe art is for everyone and are excited to help diverse communities connect meaningfully with the Museum’s mission.

Background Requirements

Additionally, the ideal candidate meets the following criteria:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Education in art education, K-12 education, or early childhood education a plus

Experience

  • 1 year of experience working with children
  • Experience working with young children (ages birth to 8 years old) a plus
  • Experience working with children with disabilities a plus

Additional Information

Department: School and Teacher Programs, Learning and Engagement
Reporting Relationships: Assistant Director of School and Teacher Programs, No direct reports
Location: Hybrid/Offsite (some offsite required; Remote Work Agreement required)
Hours/Schedule: This role is on-call, with programming primarily happening on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and weekends between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Weekly hours can range from 0-20. Weekend availability is required.
Physical Requirements:

  • Moderate lifting (25-50 pounds): occasional setup of tables, chairs, exhibition items, and event equipment.
  • Extended standing or frequent walking throughout the Museum spaces.
  • Frequent computer and hand-eye coordination tasks (extended periods of typing, data entry, and screen use).

Classification: Part-time, non-exempt
Pay Rate: $23.50/hour
