About this Role/Position
The Clyfford Still Museum is dedicated to preserving and sharing the life and work of Clyfford Still, a key figure in 20th-century art.
The Public Programs & Tours Specialist is responsible for the administration and coordination of engaging, inclusive programs and tours for adult audiences, both onsite and online, and in the community. This role supports the Museum’s mission by fostering a deeper public connection to Still’s work and creating meaningful experiences that welcome and inspire a wide range of visitors. Through collaboration, program facilitation, and tour development, the Public Programs & Tours Specialist advances CSM’s commitment to access, education, and lifelong learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides essential administrative support for public programs and adult tours.
- Serve as the main point of contact for programming in Altru, building public programs and evergreen tours (for adults, community, and early childhood programming), and reporting out as needed.
- Update CSM calendars with program and tour information.
- Support project management by tracking projects in Asana, ensuring all tasks are updated, assigned to the correct team member, have accurate due dates, and ensuring team accountability for deadlines.
- Draft meeting agendas and record/distribute meeting notes to support clear communication and follow-through on action items.
- Prepare and submit invoices and payment requests to Accounting in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy, appropriate documentation, and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
- Participate in post-program evaluation processes as needed and write recaps for each tour and program led.
- Liaise with program and tour partners on paperwork, meetings, and run of shows.
- Attend onsite logistics meetings as the primary Learning & Engagement team liaison for programs and tours; coordinate with the Learning & Engagement team accordingly to prepare for review of event forms and run of show details for upcoming programs and tours.
- Collaborate on the design and facilitation of tours and workshops for adult audiences.
- Lead customized tours and workshops onsite, online, and offsite for general and specific adult audience segments.
- Co-design and facilitate public tours, including Beyond the Canvas, Still Uncovered, and mini tours for free/pay-what-you-wish days.
- Lead private tours and workshops by request, including those for private events, corporate partners, and Museum member programs.
- Manage and maintain documents related to tour policies, procedures, and scripts.
- Ensure program and tour supplies are stocked in coordination with the Learning and Engagement team.
- Implement ongoing public programs.
- Coordinate and facilitate evergreen programs such as Music in the Galleries, Stillness, One Painting at a Time, and the Summer Concert Series.
- Support adult exhibition programs and special projects as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams to implement programs.
- Coordinate scheduling and logistics with the Adult Program and Tour Manager, Director of Learning and Engagement, Assistant Director of School & Teacher Programs, Family, Early Childhood, and Community Engagement Manager, and Bilingual Request Coordinator.
- Collaborate with other Museum departments (e.g., Visitor Experience, Marketing, Security) to ensure successful implementation.
- Participate in ongoing paid training focused on teaching strategies, accessibility, equity, and engagement with art and adult learners.
- Participate in high-impact HR efforts and contribute to team culture.

Background Requirements
Additionally, the ideal candidate meets the following criteria:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Education in museum studies, arts administration, or art education a plus
Experience
- 0–1 years of experience preferred in a comparable role or organization
- Experience facilitating group discussions, educational activities, or public-facing experiences for diverse audiences a plus

Hours/Schedule
- 30 hours per week, hourly, part-time (schedule variable based on administrative, program, and tour needs.)
- Occasional evenings and weekends required
Physical Requirements
- Moderate lifting (25-50 pounds): occasional setup of tables, chairs, exhibition items, and event equipment.
- Extended standing or frequent walking throughout the Museum spaces.
- Frequent computer and hand-eye coordination tasks (extended periods of typing, data entry, and screen use).
Classification
- Part-time, non-exempt
Salary Range
- $25.50 hourly; commensurate with experience.
