Art Crawl is a program designed to offer infants (newborns through 14 months) and their caregivers an opportunity to experience art, build relationships, and learn together. Surrounded by Clyfford Still’s expansive body of work, Museum educators will lead participants through the galleries and provide provocations based on art exploration. Your guide will encourage an interactive discussion on the importance of introducing your baby to art at an early age and provide tips for experiencing art together. We encourage you to let your infant explore, follow their lead, and observe what they are drawn to. This is the best foundation for discussing and experiencing the joy of art together!
Ice, Ice, Baby! This Art Crawl program invites you and your infant to investigate the cool and warm colors used in Still’s paintings, explore cool and warm temperatures, and engage with other multisensory materials in the galleries.
Space is limited, and pre-registration is required (you must purchase a Museum admission ticket or register with your CSM membership during online registration). Registration will open soon.
Documentation, including capturing moments of learning through photos and observations, is a big part of our Art Crawl philosophy. It helps record the infants’ learning in our galleries, strengthens educators’ reflections, and supports our efforts to share the story of Art Crawl with new families and the broader community! Check out an example of past documentation here! Please note that a CSM staff member will capture photos and videos of this Art Crawl session for both internal and external purposes to further our learning and promote Art Crawl. If you aren’t interested in participating in this project, we understand! Identify yourself at check-in, and our photographer can shoot around your family.
We suggest arriving 10 minutes early to get your little one and your belongings organized before we begin the program in The Making Space on the Museum’s second floor.
Admission: Free for CSM members, $15 adults, $13 seniors (65+), $10 teachers/military, $1 Museums for All/Explorer Pass (with valid EBT card), always free for children ages 17 and under. For programs that require advance registration, Five by Five participants can use the discount code 5×5 at checkout to register online, then scan the QR code upon arrival at the Museum for the program.
