echosystems is an interactive system that transforms visitor presence into a dynamic sonic environment, bridging movement, stillness, and sound. Rooted in the understanding that sound-making is place-making — shaping environments, organisms, and minds — echosystems uses real-time input to translate movement into a cohesive sonic composition. As part of Still in Sound, this evolving composition reflects the rhythms of the gallery, echoing visitors’ actions over the course of the performance to create an auditory score of the evening. By making sound an extension of bodily presence, the work invites participants to actively shape the soundscape, mirroring Clyfford Still’s explorations of energy, gesture, and resonance on canvas through immersive sonic feedback. echosystems transforms movement and sound into a dynamic sonic exchange.

Building on the exhibition’s themes of call and response, this program invites visitors to contribute a response simply by walking through the galleries. It is an invitation to engage subtly and bodily with the exhibition, collectively producing a lived interpretation of the work through presence, movement, and sound.

The program is free with Museum admission for the public and free for CSM members; registration is required to attend in person at the Clyfford Still Museum.
