Tabula Rasa is a string quartet composed of the principal musicians of the Colorado Chamber Orchestra, including Naomi Smith and Javan Carson, violins; Summer Rhodes, viola; and David Short, cello. The quartet strives to engage audiences with classics as well as contemporary pieces, seeking to share the familiar and the unusual in string quartet music.
Members of the quartet also perform with the Colorado Symphony, Opera Colorado, Colorado Ballet, Boulder Philharmonic, Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra, Playground Ensemble, Lakewood Symphony, Central City Opera, Sphere Ensemble, and the Broadway tours at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Each member has musical influence in the community, including a conductor of the Front Range Youth Symphony, a teacher at Denver School of the Arts, and a teacher at Boulder Valley Waldorf School.
