In 2008, 28 years after Clyfford Still’s death, Susan F. Lake and Barbara A. Ramsay were the first conservators given access to examine and study the large collection of paintings in the Clyfford Still and Patricia A. Still estate. Coming out of this extensive research project, Clyfford Still: The Artist’s Materials, provides a detailed account of the artist’s methods, materials, and techniques. Known as a great translator of conservation science, Lake shared her research and findings in the Clyfford Still Museum lobby on March 20, 2024.
