Conservation and the “Interpretive Act”

Take a peek behind the scenes as the Clyfford Still Museum partners with the Getty Conservation Institute to present a symposium in Los Angeles, “Abstract Expressionism: Time, Intention, Conservation, and Meaning,” which brings together conservators, conservation scientists, scholars, and others interested in Abstract Expressionism to discuss developments in their fields and to begin to think more precisely about what should be considered acceptable change for Abstract Expressionist artworks—and what should not—in view of their makers’ intent and meaning.
