Virtual Empathy Tour

Empathy is the ability to step outside one’s own perspective to identify with the experiences of others. How can art support us in developing this skill? Clyfford Still left his art open to interpretation and believed that his audience’s ideas of the work revealed much about the inner-workings of each unique viewer. Art can prompt us to tell stories, to make connections, and to discover new perspectives. Watch a recording of this special virtual tour as we use Still’s art to explore the experiences and interpretations of others and build the skill of empathy. CSM streamed this tour live from the galleries on August 6, 2020.
