Tickets are on sale now for January 2021
Denver, CO – December 17, 2020 – After a temporary closure, the Clyfford Still Museum (CSM) will reopen to the public on January 5, 2021. For the safety of our visitors and staff, the Museum will continue to operate with reduced visitor capacity and will require pre-purchased timed tickets to ensure that visitors can maintain appropriate social distance from others.
“The Museum temporarily closed from November 21 through the end of December 2020 due to high COVID-19 levels in the City and County of Denver,” said Joan Prusse, CSM interim director. “We are excited to welcome visitors back to experience Clyfford Still’s vibrant art in our tranquil, sun-filled galleries, as well as to enjoy our stunning architecture. After our July reopening, our visitors reported they felt protected during their CSM visit, and our staff takes a lot of pride in making Museum visitation as safe as possible for our patrons.”
Upon reopening, the Clyfford Still Museum’s hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, with a member-only hour from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. every Sunday. Visitors must reserve a ticket in advance for a specific time and date online at clyffordstillmuseum.org/tickets or by phone at 720-354-4880. Tickets for January 2021 are on sale now.
In addition to limiting the number of visitors and requiring advance ticket purchase, CSM will continue to require visitors ages three and older to wear adequate face coverings while inside the Museum. We will also continue enhanced facility cleaning measures and maintain additional safety protocols, which are described in detail on the CSM website.
The Museum will reopen with the exhibition The Late Works: Clyfford Still in Maryland, which investigates the artist’s later works, both in painting and in drawing, made after his move to rural Maryland in 1961. “The closure allowed the Museum to deconstruct a temporary wall installed for the exhibition, so visitors who have already seen this exhibition this past fall will have the opportunity to experience one of the galleries in a new way when they return,” said Prusse. “We are delighted to extend the duration of The Late Works exhibition until March 21, 2021 to allow more visitors to see Still’s dynamic works made from 1961-1980. This critically-acclaimed exhibition is a must-see for anyone who is a fan of Still’s art and will provide a wonderful introduction to Still for people who are new to his work.”
