Virtual Music in the Galleries: Barry Osborne featuring Meta Osborne

Enjoy this special virtual Mother’s Day edition of the Clyfford Still Museum’s Music in the Galleries featuring Denver singer-songwriter and banjo player Barry Osborne, and his daughter, Meta joining him on vocals. Barry tells stories through his songs, and leans into his clawhammer banjo playing to deliver humor and hard truths – often in the same song – to audiences. He released his debut EP Back of the Title Page in 2018. In their review, Marquee Magazine wrote “With the same whimsical irreverence of John Hartford, Denver’s Barry Osborne takes the old-time clawhammer sound and blends it with his influences of early 1980s college rock.” In addition to writing songs and playing out in Denver and along Colorado’s Front Range, in 2019 he developed his song cycle, What A Fool Might Suggest, enlisting a band to give his musical and storytelling vision greater depth and resonance. In this concert, Barry and Meta perform songs from the EP, the song cycle, and more. All songs by Barry Osborne, except “Wired & Ready,” by Barry Osborne and Troy Nelsen.
